New York CTA Expo:

Connections Made, Industry Issues Discussed

Monday, May 07, 2012

In its 5th year, the CTA Expo is an industry gathering connecting professional investors with emerging talent.  The event takes place in Chicago, New York, London and Miami. Video interviews from the event (highlighted below) will be broadcast on the next Uncorrelated Investing Show.

CTA Expo founders Frank Pusateri (L) and Bucky Isaacson (R) discuss what it takes for an emerging CTA to establish a successful practice.  Working on a track record, properly capitalizing the business and understanding that capital raising requires a proper sales and marketing budget.  Track record alone will not raise appropriate capital, the industry veterans note.

Tim The Challenges of Creating a Managed Futures ETF

Tim Pickering of Ausice Capital stopped bye to discuss challenges in creating a managed futures ETF, particularly as the ETF is priced in real time.  Tim also discussed the evolution of the managed futures industry from trend following that endured longer drawdowns and volatility to one where controlling risk and managing downside volatility was perhaps most significant.
